Once the patient has been examined, or in the majority of cases once the history has been obtained, the clinician should have a clear idea of the site of the disease process and its likely pathogenesis. Only then can appropriate and timely investigations be organised and their results interpreted correctly.

Pattern shift visual evoked response: application in neurology.
The technique that we use for pattern shift visual evoked response (PSVER) is described. PSVER is a non-invasive, practical and reliable clinical test in detecting anterior visual pathways lesions even when asymptomatic. The ability to find unsuspected lesions in multiple sclerosis, making possible an early diagnosis, is underscored. We also discuss some pathophysiologic aspects and the finding...
متن کاملComplicated migraine resulting in blindness due to bilateral retinal infarction.
Retinal migraine is not uncommon, but permanent sequelae in the anterior visual pathway are rare. We describe the case of a young woman in whom blindness developed over a six-year period due to recurrent episodes of migraine-related occlusions of a branch retinal artery.
متن کاملAnalysis of Visual Fields in Localizing Lesions in the Visual Pathways
As demonstrated by their common embryological origin, the retinas and anterior visual pathways (optic nerves, optic chiasm, and optic tracts) are an integral part of the brain, providing a substantial proportion of total sensory input. They frequently give important diagnostic clues to central nervous system disorders. Intracranial disease frequently causes visual disturbances because of destru...
متن کاملThe Efficacy of Occupational Therapy Intervention in Visual-Spatial and Visual Analysis Skills Development among Children with Learning Disorders
Objectives: The visual-motor skill is one of the major factors in the learning process. Visual-spatial and visual analysis skills are components of the visual motor skill. Any deficiency in Visual-Motor skills and their components often causes problem in writing and learning processes in children. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of occupational therapy (O.T.) intervention on...
متن کاملStudy on the effect of acetyl L-carnitine on cognitive and cellular disorders resulting from lipopolysaccharide-induced inflammation in male rats: emphasis on AKT / mTOR cell pathways and inflammation in the hippocampus
Background: The brain in exposure to irritating factors may lead to production of some chemical factors and proinflammatory cytokines and neuroinflammation. Over time, the chronic neuroinflammation will cause some cognitive disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. The present study studied the effect of acetyl L -carnitine on cognitive and cellular disorders derived from lipopolysaccharide (LP...
